My Life's An Open Book

Post by thekid »

Hello everyone,
I just wanted to inform you that my new book, (#5) is available at https://www.createspace.com/3500571 The price as of right now is $7.00 if you get it at createspace but I have ordered some copies for me to sell on my own so if people want it personalized I'd be willing to do that. If you purchased it directly from me the cost would be $7.50 per book. Just PM me if you would be interested. I am trying to see how I can have a special discount code but waiting for my friend John to tell me how that can be done. :)

Wow, you priced it low!
I'm hoping you didn't go with the expanded distribution then, since the price is so low.

I set mine at 8.95, but if anyone buys it from Barnes and Noble or their local bookstore I only make 1.36.
At $7.00 I imagine it would actually lose money if you used the expanded distribution.

However, I'm loving it!
I think putting poetry books into the hands of people at a low price is excellent!

Compare that to some of the prices I see on LULU and PublishAmerica! 15.95 and 24.95 respectively.
Great job Marvin!

Oh, they have changed the layout and the discount codes are now in a different place.

1) from the main control panel - click on the title of your book.
2) you may get a pop up telling you about new features - if you do, close it.
3) Look for a link "Sales Channels" and click it.
4) you will see all of the sales channels you selected and the royalty per book.
5) Look for the section "CreateSpace eStore" and click the edit button.
6) There will be a dropdown with Sale's Region. Select the region you want for the discount.
7) Click the link "Discount Code Management" A new page will open up.
8) Look for the link in the text "Create a discount code click here". Click the link.
9) a new page will open up, and say something like "Code KJDLKJFD Added."
10) Highlight just the code (the middle word), right-click and select "Copy"
11) close that window and return to the window with the discount rows.
12) Paste the code into a row and select the type of discount you want, then save it.

That's it :)

John, I don't know what i went with. I thought I did go with it. How do I check and can I change if it is too low?

Follow the instructions above. When you get to step 4 you will see your royalty per sales channel.
If your price is too low, you can adjust it in one of those screens.

My book is $8.95 and I earn $1.35 from the extended sales channels. So... $7.60 is the lowest I could price it and not lose money on the extended channels.

If you took the extended channels, your price is too low.
Though, I have to say, I love seeing people putting their books out there at a price everyone can afford ;)

John, I notice I am earning .15 per book thru extend sales. Since most of my sales have been directly through them I figured not many if any will be purchasing thru that avenue. It will either be thru CreateSpace or myself. I think that is why I chose the price I have.

OK My discount code is this TSES4CAG. Do I tell people to just type this code in if they order from Createspace?

Nice job Marvin.

I'm impressed you got it done pretty fast and it's a steal at that price!
