I say we go on a cruise. With the money spent on a hotel/casino you could spend less on a 3-4 day cruise and it's all inclusive and we would even have access to meeting rooms where John could read his poetry in front of us all. Plus there is a casino aboard for those who have tons of money to throw away.

There's one that leaves out of Galveston and near Houston. We could all arrive a day early and sleep at John's house for 1, 2 or maybe 7 evenings.
