TEA Party

Post by wordtamer »

Went to my first TEA Party with my youngest son, David.
It was really quite an interesting experience and a fairly diverse crowd. American Indians, Latinos, Blacks, Caucasians and all primarily identifying themselves as AMERICANS.

My brother-in-law, his brother and my son have never been active in politics and in the past hardly cared to vote but have finally had enough of the elitist, smug, wasteful people who are running things with so little regard to the desires of We the people. So, we went. It was a very peaceful and and law-abiding demonstration.

Here's a pic of my son holding a sign... of course, he had to make a funny face since I asked him to pose

If you can't read the small print it says "Brainwashing of America's children to begin 9/8/2009" followed by a quote from Adolph Hitler that says something like he who controls the children owns the future... I probably have misquoted it. It is to protest the President's planned communications with the school children of America (bypassing the parents).

After seeing the "I Pledge" video that was shown at some schools (which smacks of brainwashing) I'm pretty scared by this planned discussion.

It is scary to think what our country can become.

It is scary... really...

For the first time in my life I think that in the right circumstances a popular and smooth-talking politician - with the backing of the Legislative branch and the Media branch (the press) of government could stage a coup. "for the good of the people"

I keep hearing sound-bites of some of these politicians still pushing things when polls, and demonstrations, and huge marches tell them we don't want it... but they push it "for the good of the people".

Give me a break. Less government interference and a more robust private sector would be good for the people.
